I agree with a lot here, but not all. I was puzzled seeing that you gave your Best Costume Design award to Inception. I'm curious, why? And why Ellen Page was a miscast? Totally agree with Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor. I hope they'll also take home the Oscars. Kudos for naming How to Train Your Dragon the best animated film. Toy Story 3 was overrated.
Go back and look at the costumes in Inception. It's incredible complex and varied designs for their outfits that really highlight aspects of each character's personalities. Cobb's classic american style, Arthur's three piece Euro-suits, Eames' leisure suit casino outfits, the snow suits, Ariadne's college hipster scarfs and jackets, all of it. I've said it before, but I don't buy into this idea that only period pieces can have superb costume design. As far as Ellen Page goes, I think she gives it her best shot, but she's completely out of her element and sometimes actively annoying in the film. I lover her in other things, I was rooting for her to win for Juno three years ago (until I finally saw La Vie En Rose this year) and she was fantastic in Whip It. Simply bad casting. I would have cast someone like Jennifer Lawrence in the Ariadne role, actually.
You're so spiteful towards Never Let Me Go. And I am confused about the costumes in Inception since it's a modern movie and all the clothes are like... in stores everywhere right now. Not the hardest thing to achieve, IMO.
However, I like most everything else you said. Though I agree with Lesya that Toy Story 3 was the most overrated movie of the year... until I see Social Network, I'll hold off saying that was the most overrated. :)
Overrated is an overrated word. Just seems like another way of saying "I didn't like it as much as everyone else". But who am I to talk, I used it to describe The Kids Are All Right.
I wouldn't say I'm spiteful towards Never Let Me Go. I hated the film, why would I say anything else?

Like I said, film doesn't have to be a period piece with big elaborate dresses and period specific outfits to have a wonderful costume design. I was genuinely taken by the intricacies of Inception's wardrobe.
Thanks for explanation. I loved outfits in Inception, I just wouldn't name them the best this year. And I am utterly FOR giving costume awards to non period films. By the way, what about the best Cast Ensemble award, what film would you give it to?
I already gave a Best Ensemble award, it's listed below Best Documentary Feature and above Most Underrated Fim of the Year. I named The Fighter Best Ensemble :)
