There you have it. No matter what happens tomorrow night, just remember that it's all in the name of fun. What 6,000 industry insiders decide represents the best of film in the past year doesn't always and shouldn't necessarily reflect your own choices. Don't look to Oscars for validation. They never will be. Get in on the joke and enjoy the ride. There is such a thing (as I've learned) as being too passionate. That sounds like a horrible thing to say regarding this wonderful art form. But think about it. At the end of the day, it's a golden statue. It doesn't change anything. I'm passionate about a lot of things. Awards prognosticating is one of them. What actually wins is not. Just try to enjoy the show.

if HBC wins I might throw something.

I'm happy you came around to the dark side about original score :)

And I couldn't agree more about Shutter Island and Marion Cotillard in the "should've been nominated" category. F' realz. Oh and the song snub for HTTYD. What the fuck?

I still love the Inception score, and I would be thrilled if my Zimmer prediction works out. He wholly deserves it. Powell just eeks it out ever so slightly for me, simply due to the rich orchestrations and amazing themes he composed for it. Jonsi shoulda been there for HTTYD. And that just makes me realize how BORING the song category is. UGH, nothing about it is interesting or anything. Boo!

HBC seems like it's coming out of nowhere. She has precious little to do in that movie and although she gave a fine performance, she does not deserve an Oscar for it.

I agree that Shutter Island should have been featured at least in some categories. I hope you'll be right with your Original Score prediction. Loved the post!

Agree on pretty much everything. I secretly hope Leo doesn't win.

Kristen: I can't shake the feeling she's going to win, deserving or not, based on a career prize and riding the TKS coattails. She's been working the circuit lately and is right on Melissa Leo's heels, who has been losing a lot of steam due to alienating people in the wake of her gaudy ads and daffy speeches, and bizarre press statements. If anyone rides the TKS love-train, it's Queen Helena.
